This is my scenario. I have been doing an Arcserve backup of my Exchange 5.5 using the Exchange Agent. I now need to transfer the Email service to another server. I have reinstalled Exchange according to the MS specifications (same name et al) and tested that configuration using an offline Exchange backup.
I have then installed Arcserve and the Exchange Agent to the new machine and now I need to do a restore of the Exchange onto this machine. The problem is that I can't do a "Restore by Session" since the Arcserve database for the backup session recides on another server. I can't also do a restore with the tape on the original server because my current Exchange server is online and I can't have 2 servers with the same name on the same network.
When I try to restore by backup media, my dbagent does not expand my Exchange data path so I can restore my Information Store.
Anything I am missing here?
Summary of question is:
If I backup EXCH server1 through the network onto a tape on Arcserve server2, how do I restore the tape onto EXCH server3 running Arcserve locally?
I need to resolve this urgently before my current server runs out of space surrounding yourself with dwarfs does not make you a giant.
