Hope someone can help. I have searched through Vertias KB and this site but am unable to find a contrete answer.

I am creating a disaster recovery server for our business and have two exchange 2003 servers with different names.

should the need arise, can i restore the exchange information store or mailboxes (using Vertias 10) to the other server with the different name using the Exchange redirection option?

Some posts say you can some say you can't; anyone know for sure?

I dont believe that even if you could put the store on the different server, it would be usable because the permissions would be screwed up. There may be a way to "import" the store but a better (read easier) is to use something like DoubleTake to mirror the server. When the primary server goes down, in ten minutes or less, you have your server back up and running. (a reboot and a couple of scripts)

I use Quest's Recovery Manager for Exchange:

for recovery of mail boxes and email. It's faster than tape or rebuilding the entire server just to recovery from an IDoiT error :)

I was able to recover a 2 gig mail box in 20 minutes from a stand start. I was able to put the mail into a PST and push it out the server live.
