how can I restore a SQL Server 2000 db to SQL Server 7.0?

Never done it but I would imagine you could use DTS. If not try all tasks/generate sql scripts and turn just about all options on especially 'only script 7.0 compatibility features' use this script on the 7.0 sql server to create the db. Then use bcp or DTS to transfer the data.

Maybe this will help get you started.

You can't restore a SQL 2000 backup to SQL 7. You can't attach a SQL 2000 database to SQL 7. As cjw explained, you can trasnfer the database from SQL 2000 to SQL 7 using DTS. You could also script the DB (with SQL 7 only features) and create it in SQL 7. Then you could BCP data out of SQL 2000 and BCP into SQL 7. Terry L. Broadbent - DBA
