We are in the process of migrating from Windows NT to Windows 2000 Professional and almost all of our test PCs are much slower than Windows NT 4.0. The repsonse time problems occur when files are being saved, or in searching for files on local and network disks. I find it takes approximately 8 - 15 seconds just to change the entry in the Look-in drop-down box when finding files.

I have a PC that is more than adqueate for running Windows 2000; Compaq Deskpro EN 733MHZ with 256MB of RAM, 20MB hard disk. I am running Windows 2000 v5.02195 SP1 Build 2195 on a Novell 4.x 10MB ethernet network. I have checked all of the posts in the Microsoft Windows 2000 forum and have applied the My Network Places and the Performance Optimizer for Applications modifications which have improved the Save As functions somewhat. I have even performed the Find Fast function to index files on my local drive to increase performance. Are there any other method to make performance of Windows 2000 at least comparable to Windows NT without having to make multiple Registry mods...?
