Hi guys,

I just made an application, in my computer works just fine, but when I install it in any other client the first window that shows is "Invalid resource file" or something like that because I have VFP in spanish and maybe I made a mistake with the translation.

It asks me Yes or No, no matter which one I chose it continues just fine, If I erase the FOXUSER files (2) in the system32 directory it works correctly, but the next time I try it it fails again.

Any ideas???

Thanks in advance!!!

Sicerely,

Copy the config.fpw file to a backup name, let's say config.abc

Then delete it. Restart foxpro.

you may also want to check the command SET RESOURCE in the vfp help.

Daniel,

I had the same problem just after I upgraded to VFP 8.0.

If I remember right, I searched for, and deleted, all the foxuser files on the entire computer. I did that while VFP was not running. It fixed the problem for good.

Hi guys!!!

Thanks a lot for your help, I must tell you that ereasing the foxuser's files didn't work but the SET RESOURCE OFF worked just perfect!

Thanks a lot guys and again you are the BEST.

hudhwk,

I am glad you have found a solution, but I am a little incredulous about the fact that you deleted every copy of the foxuser.dbf and foxuser.fpt off the client machine as MikeLewis suggested. I can't see how a VFP app could continue throwing the error "Invalid resource file" and ask you if you want to replace it if there was in fact no VFP resource files on that computer. I am assuming that you are not using a resource file that you have renamed in making this assertion.

Hi Slighthaze,

Yeah, I know that you are incredulous anout it, because i was too!!!, I can't explain what's going on man, it's quite weird, maybe I found a new bug hahahahahahahahaha.

Nevermind, I will be checking this in the next days and if I found that I made a mistake about it, I'll let you know.

Thanks a lot for your comments!!! Have all a great weekend.

Sincerely,

I don't blame you for being incredulous. In fact, I am not saying that you must not have any resource file on the computer. Rather, that one of the resource files was corrupted, and rather than faff around trying to figure out which one the particular session was using, I just gave them all the heave-ho.

MikeLewis,

I couldn't have agreed more with your suggestion, it was a very good one. I still don't believe that VFP is even able to bring up that error when all resource files are gone. Though I believe Daniel is convinced that all resource files are deleted and error still exists. i have seen this before with VFP app running on same comp with FP 2.6a app. If all resource files are deleted and VFP app started then error should be gone. So perhaps an earlier version of FP app is running before the VFP app somehow.

Slighthaze,

Actually, that's a very good point. When I was seeing the error, I was also running earlier versions of VFP on the same machine. It's just possible that an earlier version was re-creating a resource file that I thought I had deleted. I didn't spend long enough investigating all the nuances. I was just pleased to have eventually got rid of the error.

By the way, I wonder if this problem has been resolved in SP1.
