Hello everybody,
I have 2 servers with FC5. On first server S1 there is DNS server installed , on second server S2 there is slave DNS for mydomain.com.
resolv.conf on first one have nentry ameserver 127.0.0.1 and crond can send emails from program executed in cron.daily to user@mydomain.com.
On S2 when line nameserver 127.0.0.1 is added cron is not sending emails for scripts run from cron.daily to user@mydomain.com. Without that line everything is fine. Both servers have exim SMTP server configured to accept emials to user@mydomain.com.
What is interesting: S2 with entry nameserver 127.0.0.1 in resolv.conf, when scripts from /etc/cron.daily are run manually are sending emails to user@mydomain.com.

Any help suggestion would be greatly appreciated.
regards
Slawek

First, check the MX records for mydomain.com on 127.0.0.1 and the other DNS server configured in /etc/resolv.conf.

Are you saying when you run the cron script by hand it mails but when cron runs it fails?

did you compare /etc/crod.conf

Tony ... aka chgwhat

When in doubt,,, Power out...

Sorry for not responding earlier I was installing RoR for programmers.
On both machines MX record points to the same server S1 which host master DNS for mydowmain.com.
S2 hosts slave DNS for that domain.
>Are you saying when you run the cron script by hand it mails but when cron runs it fails
exactly

>did you compare /etc/crod.conf
where is no such file or similar for crond deamon

Problem appeared and resolved by itself.

I have added nameserver 127.0.0.1 to resolv.conf.
I do not know what was the problem, basically I have restarted exim, cornd several times deleted and added the some script in crontab.
Go figure.
Regards to you all.
