I am looking for a shortcut for a Windows 98se desktop scheme. I work in a library and we have many games for children to use. Some games are older but remain popular with the children (eg "Where in the USA is Carmen Sandiego&quot.

We need to open Settings and set the display to 256 colors (down from High Color) for these games to work. I was wondering if there is a shortcut that I can place on the desktop to do this task automagically (like the "poof" icon I have on my desktop "rundll.exe user.exe,exitwindows" to shutdown with one click). Thanks for any help offered.

It's not quite the same, but if you go to Display Properties > Settings > Advanced > General there should be a box to check Show settings icon on taskbar. Check that, click Apply, OK then OK again and there should be a display icon in the system tray that lets you change colours and resolutions easily.

I permit right-click access on the Desktop to get to Display Properites. In the shortcut, I may be looking for something that is not available. Thanks for the advice though.

I belive quickres (part of the Microsoft PowerToys) should be on the CD
