We have a problem with IP phones on remote site during outage of WAN link. Sometimes, few phones don't want to register to CLAN. Then we have to reset phones manually (unplugging or by keypad). I noticed that this can happened also on LAN after system reset. Does anybody know how to reset IP phones remotely?

I've had a similar problem.

If the WAN link is up and they are in their own network region you can issue the command "reset ip-stations ip-network-region x" where x is network region you wish to reset.

If the headset button on the phones is lit the phones won't reset/register until this has been removed.

On quite a few occassions our WAn link has been up/down every coupld of minutes and the LSP becomes the active server but the phones somehow managed to register with the CLAN at our main site. When this happens a manual reboot is the only thing that fixes it.

Doyaya,

also if you want to reset a single phone, use busyout/release commands. upon receiving release request, phone will reboot.

Some sites have LSPs and some only IP phones and Cisco's ATAs for faxes. This problem occurred on both type of sites (w or w/o LSPs).
I am not sure that unregistered phones will register after "reset ip-stations ip-network-region x", because CM only knows about registered phones and it will reset only these phones. I tried busyout/release, but without result.
It's not happened often but it is very frustrating when you have to "search" for missing phones. Maybe we have to ask Avaya when they will develop some management interface on IP phone (like telnet on Cisco's phones) :) Probably, never.

Thanks TykeUK.

Doyaya,

afaik there is a management interface in the phone, it can be managed with snmp using avaya integrated management.

Dwalin,

The MIB for IP phone is read-only! It can't be managed by snmp.
