I am using Folder redirection to redirect all users desktop to a network share.

My problem is that users can change the position of the icons and this gets saved to their roaming profile. With the number of icons that we have, this looks very messy and makes it hard for users to find what they are looking for.

I want to do two things.

1. Reset the position of the icons
2. Either lock the icons in position so the users cannot move them or prevent the changes being saved to their profile.

We have WIndows 2000 Server+Workstations and about 800 users - Deleting and recreating profiles not an option.

I have had trouble with mandatory profiles in the past I am thinking that I will have to give it a go. I have had problems with Windows applications not being able to write user specific information to mandatory profiles.

Is there not a policy setting that will force "Auto Arrange" on for the users icons, that would sort it out!
