Reseating my TN750C loses announcements...

How come when I reseat my TN750C card, i lose the announcements? The abbouncement recordings are still there but all with a length of 0 secs.

I am guessing I am doing something fundamentally wrong as I am new to AVAYA eq.

You should save them to the flash card first, so you can restore them after reseating. I don't understand why you would reseat your announcementboard, you've must have your reasons I rekon ;-)

To save your announcements, you issue "sa ann". If you get the message about "data module must be administered", you will need to create an announcement data module. The location will be the the location of your TN750. You may also need to setup your netcon channels if they haven't already been setup...If you need help with that process, just post and I can respond. The actual save process for announcements takes a long time, so don't worry if it hasn't finished after 30 minutes! I've seen them take as long as an hour before. I don't remember the part number, but the newer announcement cards have the ability to store the announcements locally (on the card) instead of the translation card. This may also be switch version dependent. Also, if your switch is ever rebooted, it will take 15 to 30 minutes for the automatic announcement restore process to complete. In fact, if you try to manually invoke a restore announcement immediately after a reboot, it will error out because of the conflict.

With the TN750C it'll save the announcements on the pack itself, other than that requirement, I don't know the answer to your problem..

The situation is that I have created a data module for the announcement board, and it is also in the circuit pack. It is a TN750C vintage 9. I thought these have non-volatile memory in which an announcement is stored once recorded.

The reason for reseating is that i am restoring announcements from a flash card to the board and then taking the board out to site. But it seems as soon as i take the board out, the announcements are lost (i.e length = 0 secs). Thouhgt it was a faulty board so took it back to the office...

I've tried this on our multivantage setup and i know it doesn't support save/restore announcements, but i figure that if i could record an announcement then it should be in non-volatile ram. It recorded and tested the messages but as soon as it was reseated it lost the announcements. Tried on numerous TN750C cards and all the same problem. Is it the multivantage gear in this case?

When you move the TN750C to the new location you must plug it into the same cabinet, carrier and slot location in the new system as you removed it from in the old system or you will loose the announcements. Also make sure that the announcements are set up beforehand on the "Change Announcements" form on the new system. Make sure they are identical on the new system as to what they were in the original system.

I am not sure but it sounds like you have a G3I? In my case I have a G3R and save announcements save them to the memory boards on, spe a, spe b, or removeable media. This way you can (sometimes) restore your announcements from the r-redia.
