Hi -

I am looking for an application (Preferably access based) for better request management (mainly Software modification requests) and crystal report version control.

Thanks in advance.

There are lots of version control applications, MS Visual SourceSafe is a common one, though I don't know of any with CR integration. There is a document property in each Crystal report called modificationtime which tells you the last modification datetime.

There are also a myriad of issue resolution programs, and some good web based ones, but if you have other developers onsite, see if you can piggyback a license within their product.

Hi Synapsevampire and nagoryni.

Thanks for the prompt response!

Sorry I had forgoten to mention about the cost.

Can you suggest me any freeware or low cost shareware product preferably on ACCESS database?

We are maintaining different versions of a report by saving with date extensions and keeping their history of modification in excel for each report. We are updating request in word document. It is difficult to identify which reports were modified with their modification description and also which reports were modified for a particular sub project.

My needs are
1. Request management (What is the status, priority, owner, executor, various status dates, report modification, view modification etc.)
2. To retrieve any prior version of Crystal report or word/excel document associated with it.
3. Able to report / query. eg. which reports were changed during period with their modification description. or which reports were change for a particular module sub modue or user etc.

I am also doing reasearch on net but thought that expert opinion will help to decide faster.

Thanks.

Ajay
