Request for General Tips: Subreports - where to start

I have been immersed in web technologies, but am currently working with BasicScript, Sybase, and Archibus...

It's been 2 years, since I used Crystal Reports. Any tips(websites, etc) on creating subreports and calling the report object would greatly appreciated. I will be using sybase database. Archibus will invoke the report.

In an effort to get a helpful response. I will ask a more detailed question.

How does one create a report which lists some fields horizontally and corresponding fields vertically?

So far I have only been successful generating reports which lists corresponding fields vertically. Please inform me, if it is possible to create my desired result.

Sample of desired layout:

Task Comments:
Task:
Date:

Date 1: Date 2: Type: Type Comments:

3/1/2000 3/15/2000 Detail of type1 Comment for type1
3/20/2000 4/15/2000 Detail of type2 Comment for type2

This looks as if you should be using a Cross-Tab report.
