AFAIK BO does not support MySQL as an RDBMS, using generic ODBC you could report on MySQL data, but using MySQL as a database to build a repository in is another matter...
I agree with blom0344. BO has a list of supported databases that can be used as a repository. Generic ODBC sources are not allowed.
It's likely possible to do, but it's not worth the effort. I would just use an MS Access database for the repository and then you'd be OK.
I know they don't officially support MS Access databases for the repository, but at least you can build one without doing anything special. They work fine.
I've tried and I can say that it is a bad idea.
MySQL is not supported and is really not the right db for the repo.
Mind that it's not easy to build reports based on MySQL, since there is no support for specific SQL dialect
