If you mean "for SQL Server 2000" the answer is yes. You can develop reports using Visual Studio 2005 and RS 2005 and using a SQL Server 2000 database.
I guess I was not clear enough - can use the Reporting Services 2000 Designer and Visual Studio 2005 at the same time on SQL Server 2000 database and SQL Server 2000 Reporting Services Server.
Microsoft states that the pre-req for Reporting Services 2000 is Visual Studio 2003 -- but I want to use Visual Studio 2005.
When we tried to deploy a report created in a Visual Studio 2005 Report project, we got an error related to Reporting Services 2000 expecting something from a Visual Studio 2003 namespace. So it would appear you cannot use Visual Studio 2005 to create Reporting Services 2000 reports.
I had a nightmare installing these two together. In the End I had to uninstall sql 2055 repair visual studio 2005 and reinstall sql 2005 with all options set to install.
All I have to do now is get the report server running!
Visual Studio 2005 requires Reporting Services 2005. Without this you don't even get the option of a Report Project.
