I am using Crystal Reports 10. I know reports can be saved with the data. My problem is I have reports that appear to (possibly) saving the data with the report even when I specify not to in the Report Options check box (unchecked).

I have many reports that are using more space than they should up to 18MB. Most of my reports take 8,639KB.

Is 8639KB the default? What makes a report take up to 18MB even when I uncheck the box to save it with data?

Any help is very much appreciated.

Thanks.

Any chance you've got an embedded graphic like a logo that is causing the overhead? Or maybe something else?

If the 'save data with report' is unchecked, that should work. I believe one of my larger reports is 478k, since we don't save data. Smallest is 11k.

When you open this, do you see data before you run it?

Also, go to your Report menu and click on performance information to see what it says there about saved data before you run it. Then after.

No images, graphs, etc.

I have no reports that save the data with the report.

All my reports are a minimum 8MB. I though this was normal. The ones I was concerned about are up to 18 or 20MB.

Wow. There's really something wrong here. Any more clues? Anyone? Thanks,.

Sometimes a file will hang onto space even when it doesn't need it.

Another possibility is you have a big array somewhere.
