hi
Has any one ever replicated from ms sql to a oracle database
Any tips or commects will be welcome

Sorry Robert, you finally got one wrong... (first time for everything :) )

It is possible to replicate to heterogeneous data sources such as Oracle with SQL Server 7.0 and beyond. Read the replication white paper on the Microsoft web site for more details at
In this article, they discuss the requirements for this, and use Oracle as an example. You will have to install software on Oracle do perform this. Since I haven't implemented this in Oracle, you will have to research this.

Thanks,

Tom

Thanks, Tom...I was hesitant about my answer, but I had spent about 10 minutes sloshing through BOL and, based on what I found there, it didn't seem possible (or at least there was no indication that it could be done).

That's sometimes a problem... if you want to fully understand something, you have to read the white papers, in addition to books-online and possibly other sources. The replication white paper is pretty good, but not great...

The performance tuning and the security white papers are outstanding, however...

hi
Thanks for the white paper ,but is there anything on sql 6.5 to oracle 8i. Or can i use sql 7 from 6.5 to oracle 8i
Regards
Gilles

This white paper assumes 7.0. I don't know about 6.5 to Oracle as I avoid this product like the plague...
