I'm trying to setup SQL Replication between 2 machines running SQL Server 2000. On the development environment, everything's working great. Then when we ported over to the test machines, with the same configuration, one of the machines returns this error on the Log Reader Agent when initialised.

The step did not generate any output. The step failed.

I recently patched the sql servers with the post sp2 security update MS02-038. Could the patch somehow have caused the logreader to be registered wrongly, etc? I really appreciate any feedback
