Replication Between Exchange and AD?

Hi,

My Set up all servers 2003 Ent Ed:
Site1 = 2*DC(FSMO roles) + 1Exchage2k3Ent Ed (NO GC)
Site2 = 2*DC(GC's) + 1Exchage2k3Ent Ed (NO GC)
Site3 = 1*DC

I am having issues that seem to be replication related.

If I set up a new mailbox user on Site2 Exchange it can take days to appear in the Address list in Outlook and there fore the profile cannot be setup in outlook.

Also, again in site2 I have users who log on fine and can access all resources except exchange in Outlook 2k3 where it keeps asking for the user name and password. On the Mail server I get Event ID 529 bad username / password Error code 0x000064 (which is account does not exist.)

And, I did an exchange task on Site2Exch server and it seemed to talk to the DC in Site3 for authentication?

Two questions really;
1. Any one know of a great Online resourse for looking into replication issues.
2. Anything I can check or something daft that I've done to see whats going wrong?

I've run the Analyzer and it came up with was the Transaction logs share the drive with the exchange database files.

If you need more info then please let me know and I will supply.

Thanks for any help,
Iain

Hi,

Do you have AD sites and services setup with your three sites and IP ranges? This is important so that PCs, member servers login to the closest DC to them.

Also make sure there is at least one GC on each site with an Exchange Server. (You don't mention one in Site1).

Sorry for the lack of info;

Each site is it's own subnet, the NTDS settings are;
Site1
Server1: Reps to Site1Svr2, Site2Svr1, Site3Svr1
Server2: Reps to Site1Svr1, Site3Svr1

Site2
Server1: Reps to Site2Srv2
Server2: Reps to Site1Svr1, Site2Svr2, Site3Svr1

Site3
Server1: reps to Site2Svr1

All the servers are Global Catalouge servers except the Exchange servers which don't appear in the Sites and Services console.

Does that make sense?

Thanks again for any light you can shed.

Cheers,
Iain
