All,

VM Pro: 4.2

We regularly change the recordings for messages by keeping a set of wav files and replacing the relevant one in the wavs folder as appropriate. As an example we have easter.wav, christmas.wav and copy whichever one we want to holiday.wav which is waht the VM pro actions use. This works fine.

NOTE: To anyone else thinking of doing this we only ever use wav files that were recorded using VM Pro. I have not tried using wav files from other sources and I would suggest it may cause problems if you try to do so.

Is it possible to do the same with the wav files in the greetings folder? They seem to use some kind of versioning system as we often end up with somename_1.wav. Also is there any danger to doing so apart from ensuring no one is acessing the relevant mailbox at the time?

Thanks for any advice.

Andrew

Why not put them all in and use a test variable ?
You can use a shortcode to set it to the right text.

Example

*99
voicemail node

Then go to vmpro -> shortcode

Make a variable and add 1,2,3 and 4 if you have four greetings

Make menu with four options and put in the correct wavs which tell what greeting they select and put in a "set variable" with 1,2,3 or 4.

You could put in a test variable (you need to use 1,2,3, and 4)in front of the menu so they know what greeting is active before they change it.

In your module you use you can put in the same test variable and the four greetings and then continue with the call flow.

When you need greeting two then dial *99 hear which greeting is active, dial 2 for greeting two (variable 2) and then greeting 2 is active.

You can record multiple greetings within VMP. _1 is greeting 1 and _2 is greeting 2 for example. You can activate these greetings for various call types. It seems most people hit the option to "use this greeting for all calls". You can certainly replace username_1.wav with any other .wav by simply renaming it.

What are you trying to accomplish here?
