Hello,
Is there a way to hide the system tray icons on a Windows 2000 Prof client running on a W2k domain, while still allowing the program related to the icon I hid to run in the background?
I know how to simply remove or turn off programs from starting such as editing the registry "Run" folders, removing items from the Startup folder, and checking for the individual program's properties for it's own internal "hide" features. But this program doesn't have a "hide" feature and I don't want to stop it from running, I just want to hide the icon.
I want to run a macro program that will allow auto insertion of text using various keys on the keyboard, but the macro program also allows for an unlocked back door by being able to open the macro program from the System Tray. Someone could be clever enough to open the Macro program and create a macro to open Internet Explorer and surf at 3am on the job.
If I could get the macro program to still run without the icon showing, that would be great. Otherwise, does anyone know of a macro program that allows you to hide the System Tray icon while it's still running? I've created a special Organizational Unit for this computer/user with several restrictions to keep them from fiddling, but I can't find anything that will hide the icons but still allow them to run silently.
Any help would be appreciated!
