In Win XP Pro, when you share a folder, the Everyone share is automatically set. It has to be manually removed to properly secure the folder. Is there a hack that prevents "everyone" from appearing when you share a folder. Just in case you forget to remove it manually.

Windows XP's default share permissions behavior is set to provide Everyone with access to the share's contents".

"Note that, by default, subfolders will inherit permissions from parent folders. To customize permissions inheritance, click the Advanced button found on the share or filename's Properties dialog box". Maybe you could look at removing the Everyone Group from the Parent Folders?

How do I... Secure Windows XP NTFS files and shares?

See if any of these are useful. As previously stated firstly you must turn off "Simple File Sharing" in Folder Options/ View to access the Security tab (or use Safe Mode).

Use access control to restrict who can use your files
