I have had to manually remove a program and it's folders but the program still shows up in "add/remove programs" in the control panel. Anyone know how to get it removed from this list? I will dance at your next wedding if you can help me.

Did you reboot after removing it? Does it shouw up in the startup when doing a MSConfig?

I have seen this one before. There are a few things you can try:

1st: Attempt to remove the program in question from the add/remove programs app, it should report an error message about the action and ask if you want the entry removed from the add/remove list... say "yes".

2nd: Re-install the offending program and promptly remove it. Suggest rebooting between install and removal.

Last: ...and best (I think); download a freeware utility called Jv16 PowerTools. Contains several great utilities for registry and filesystem maintenance, including maintaining the add/remove programs list. You can remove any entry you deem invalid, back it up, and restore it later if you wish. See the official homepage: for the most current release. A+, Net +

Charlie's post worked fine. Thanks Mstr, I will keep your post in mind if I have more problems with this issue. THANKS!

Another excellent method for doing this, is a small utility called RegCleaner.
It can be downloaded for free a cnet downloads.
It will let you sort through all of the registry entries by software name, author, etc, so you can get rid of the orphaned registry entries easily.
There is a tab on the interface, that shows every program listed in the Add/Remove list and lets you remove any of them you want with just a couple clicks.
And of course, it backs up any changes made, so you have simple recovery of any mistakes made.

Happy computing
