Hello,

i have several computers that have many users in the Documents and settings. I know it is not crucial to remove them, but i would like to do so. I fear that just deleting the folder representing a user, will erase the wrong files, or not remove them fully from the computers settings.

Any ideas, how do you all do this? thanks in advance,

chris

If you are talking about Local User Accounts you can delete them in Computer Management under System Tools|Local Users and Groups|Users

After deleting the users you can 'clean up' the Documents and Settings folder by deleting the folders for the users you have removed.

Is this what you mean?

Thanks for the prompt reply.. these users are all domain users who have folders "theirname.ourdomain" can i use the same method to remove these users? Some of these comptuters have been passed around where there are 7 old users settings and pref. stored in doc. and settings.

I will try that method. thanks again

chris

Each time a user logs onto a machine it stores a copy of the users profile, (acutally done when they log off). If that user will not be logging onto that machine again, it will not cause any problem to delete the profile.

To delete users from your Active Directory, user A/D Users and Computers and then you can clean out the old user folders from the various machines.

Hope this helps,
