We have a number of w2k terminal servers in a w2k3 domain.

We want to give users the 'find files and folders' facility of search that you get with w2k, but we want to remove other parts of search, such as 'find people' or 'find printers'

I cant find a way to do this so far, the w2k3 gpo doesnt extend that far, you can only remove search itself. They are not part of a profile from what I can see either

Any ideas ?

Thanks

Andy

look at the registry, but I never try it:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\FindExtensions\Static\
Maybe you can delete for people, printer & computer, just remember to export first before you delete and reboot your PC.

Cheers winoto, that works

It was actually the wabfind entry under static that removed the 'for people' search

Only downside is that it removes it for everyone, even administrator. But I dont suppose there is a way to do it for the individual ?

Thanks v much

Andy

I don't think so, except if you can find it under HKCU and create login script to remove it.
