How do you remove the label you create when programming an abbreviated dial button? As you know you as the user can program your own abbreviated dial button and up in the soft keys it will prompt you not only for the telephone number but a label (up to 5 characters). If you want to change the label you can however, I can't find how you remove the label. I have a VP who took over an existing telephone that has the previous owners labels and he doesn't want to see them when accessing the soft keys. Outside of blowing his extension out of the switch and then putting it back in (he has a 6416 and all buttons are programmed)I can't figure out how to do what he has asked. Thanks in advance.

I've used two different methods for this issue; both involve some effort and neither is perfect:

1. Go to the actual phone in question, and manually change the names for each softbutton to AD1, AD2, etc.

2. Make a note of the current port assignment for the station in question.
a. Duplicate the first station. Make the new duplicate station an X port. Choose any non-DID extension.
b. Delete the first station.
c. Duplicate the X port station, using the first station's extension and port assignment.
d. Delete your newly-created non-DID X port station.
All of the programmed buttons (but not the personal list auto-dial entries) will be kept intact through the duplication process.

Hope this helps!
