that's because html is the extension for webpages. Why would you want to remove it? it the complete name of the file containing the webpage.

Ignorance is not necessarily Bliss, case in point:
Unknown has caused an Unknown Error on Unknown and must be shutdown to prevent damage to Unknown.

I want to add individual pages and I think people would remember the extension but not the html. For example:
People will probly write down the url and leave the html out at and then type it in their browser and get the error page.
I just think it would be easier to just type the extension, and it looks neater =).
Thanks, for the info.

*HTML* is the extension. I have yet to find anyone who doesn't know that all webpages end in htm or html. Its very common to get webpages with the extension. Almost any placwe you visit in the web will have the html part at the end.

But as Harry says, usually webservers are configured to load index.htm or index.html automatically without the need to type it, if it exists.

1/ make everything as subfolders with a default page

2/ use .htaccess to rewrite the URLs (if you are hosted on Apache)

3/ use a custom 404 page to generate the pages "on the fly" from a database

other than that you are assuming that in over 10 years of having the Internet publicly accessible users have not learned anything!!!!

Thanks to everyone that answered I really appreciate it. But, this is so technical that I am going to keep it as is. Again, I really appreciate the time you guys spent on helping me out.
