When I remove firewall I still have mt ports close. How to make sure that my ports are open? Please help. Thanks

Which operating system?

Which firewall?

Did you reboot after making such a low level change to the operation of the system?

khazars,
can you give me some more info on IS ICF?

How to check if I have a ports blocked and then unblock them? Is there an utility I can use?

Try not to think of your ports as open until blocked, ports are "closed" unless an application is using it.

Remember that if you are connecting to the internet through a device such as a router, online port scans will display open ports on the router rather than your machine.

There are many freely downloadable port scanners such as Nmap.

Ensure that XP's firewall is not enabled (under TCP properties as I recall) and that zonealarm is properly uninstalled. In past instances I have had to install Zonealarm again and then uninstall it to remove it completely.

Also check that the client/server software you are using is properly configured.

The problem is that I cannot download sfuff from eMULE

This is the website similar to eDonkey where you can get shared audio and video files

Yes, sorry. I meant is the computer you are trying to get it to work on at home, or a company network?

Have you had any problems running any other file sharing clients?

I imagine it is possible that your ISP is blocking the ports although unlikely, how configurable is eMULE?

Why do you want to turn off ports and uninstall your firewall, you'll open yourself up to worms, viruses. Did you properly uninstall ZA, because ZA can leave traces of itself on your system and block internet connection.
