Hi All,

We are working with a customer that has several 500v2 expansion modules off of their Primary SE at R9.1. (3) of the locations are splitting off as they were sold to new owners. Each of the 3 sites has 30-50 IP phones. The 500v2 expansions have all of the users programmed locally. We are hoping to simply remove them from the server edition environment and add required licensing to use in a standard IP Office mode with an SCN (add SCN licenses, essential ed x3, (1) preferred with VM ports and new VM Pro Server).

Can we simply remove them form the IPO Server Edition solution and add in the licensing and manually create SCN lines at each? Or is there something more from going form an Expansion system off of IPO SE to a Standard edition IPO?

Thanks!

I would wipe the units & reprogram from scratch

You cannot create a SCN to a SE environment
you can create regular h.323 trunks to it and route calls with shortcodes.

You can simply remove the IP500 by removing the trunk to it in SE and then go into the programming of the IP500 and do the same.

You may lose the users if they are programmed only in the SE and not locally and have to reprogram them.

Thanks Westi.

These 3 locations today are in an Server Edition environment and we would want to remove them completely and have them as 3 stand-alone 500v2 with essential/preferred edition licenses and build new SCN lines between the 3. There would be no involvement or connection to the existing server edition environment. All users were created on the 500v2 and not the primary, so we would only need to build a couple hunt groups that were a part of the Primary server.

I realize we would wipe them out completely and reprogram, but they are also in a production environment where that would create a lot of down time. So I just wanted to see if it was an easy migration to take all 3 500v2s and move them into a standard edition with SCNs by simply removing the trunks to the SE from all, adding needed licenses and creating new SCN trunks between the 3 sites (again no connection at all to the IPO SE).

Thanks

Why?

Use the offline configuration tool to create the new cfg in advance, recreate the SD Card reboot & upload new Config. downtime less than 10 min.

Now would you rather spend 1-2 hrs recreating a new cfg or who knows how long trying to debug strange behaviour?

Thanks for the input. IP Guru - appreciate the insight and will familiarize myself with offline config. When you say recreate the SD card, I assume that is the standard reformat option via manager, correct?

Thanks!
