I have a domain which was made up of 3 DCs. One of the DCs was taken offline permently. The server ended up getting tombstoned in AD so I had to manually seize all of the FSMO roles to another server, no big deal. However the DC still shows up in AD because it was never dcpromoed out of the domain. I would like to remove it from the domain and I was just looking for some advice on the best way to clean it up.

Should I just delete it from AD users and computers, is there a metadata cleanup tool I should run, or should I just forget about it and leave AD the way it is.

I am not currently having any problems but I also like to be proactive rather than reactive.

Thanks
