What's the difference between a fiber remote, a carrier remote, and a mini-carrier remote?

It's a little confusing, but here it goes:
A Carrier remote and a fiber remote both support a remote column of IPE shelves.
Both the carrier and fiber remote device cards fit in a NETWORK slot (in placed of a SUPL Network card) and cable either with campus fiber (fiber remote) or carrier (t1 from telco or in-house facilities); I've never used these, so I can't speak to their limitations.
a Mini Carrier remote is an IPE card (not a network card) that takes up two slots, and cables to the remote end with T1 facilities (t1 from telco, or in house facilities), however it will only support a couple of remote cards each. The Remote end generally uses a option 11 type cabinet, and the remote end card fits in place of the SSC. Quick to install. Provides the capability of ESA failover to local trunks if carrier is lost.
There is also a Multi-IPE fiber remote, which takes the SUPL card outputs and converts them to fiber (and back at the other end) so you can create a column of IPE shelves using regular SUPL cards, and regular CONT-2 or 4 cards. I use a couple of these for a campus environment. Redundant fiber, multimode or singlemode. works good, lasts long time.
