Just had a quick question about this.
I am familiar with using the Remote Registry service to connect to a PC on my network and edit it's registry.
I came up with another application for this though, as I tend to have problems with a few software engineers >
Speaking with another IT guy I know, he had a programmer develop a network auditing tool using WMI and Remote Registry service that allows him to more or less audit the entire network via this particular service.
I have no dire need for this atm, because if I suspect someone, I can simple connect, and compare his software keys to the inventory I have listed for the employee, but this would be a very useful tool.
My only problem is that within our company, the programmers are more Linux based, and are not familiar with WMI or the inner workings of Windows services/commands.
So the question is, does anyone else use this method of auditing, and is there anyway I can get a copy of your script/application. My friend, unfortunately would have to charge to give me the software, as it was made under his company's name.
