Remote location options

We are asked to provide 16 phones in a remote location (17 miles) the ability to log into an ACD queue in a different building. They don't want to spend the money for a remote IPE shelf, so what other choices or options would there be, if any?

Thanks!

No they cant use IP, release 3.0 81c with network security restrictions :(

Any Option will cost money, some more then others.

It would also help if you told us what System and Rls you have and do you have a Data Network to this location and how does it get there?

This is a Signature and not part of the answer, it appears on every reply.

This is an Analogy so don't take it personally as some have.

Why change the engine if all you need is to change the spark plugs.

3.0 on both ends, 81C on both ends.

We have dedicated T-1's between locations. (Tie lines on Sonet ring)

Can't jump on our data network.

I don't think you can login to an ACD group across a TIE trunk, has to be some sort of network between the 2 location.

Best and least expensive answer is IP sets riding the data network between sites.

I just re-read the original post.

to add to my earlier post, with an 81c on both ends connected via tie lines, and the requirement to be able to log into an acd queue on the far end switch, you will need to have a phone at one end that somehow connects to the pbx on the other end.

This is one of the things that the PBX extenders are very good at.

With tie lines in between, you could probably get away buying a bunch of the single user models, and driving them off of analog line cards on either end.

Are the PBX's connected by Tie (T1)? Or if not do you nave any spare channels on one.

If they have a network connection look into the Nortel 9150 it will support up to 32 Digital sets and will will work with your rel 3.0 just fine. The card that plugs into the switch is a 2 card slot card and can go in any IPE shelf. I've never set up an ACD set on one of these but don't remember any restrictions. The sets are programed in the switch just like any other sigital phone.

Oh reading the thread again I realized that you have 81s at both locations. Are the switches fully networked or just TIE trunks between them. I'd guess that AllenMac probabbly has the cheapest solution with the PBX extenders.

You could do an overflow from the original ACD to a second ACD at the distant location. You can set up the original ACD to overflow or interflow with whatever settings you want. You do not mention Symposium etc, so I assume thats not a concern. You can run reports on the different switches if thats necessary. Routing through voice mail will offer you time of day settings if that is the reason for the two locations..... just a thought. If you need common reports 9150 is a good way to do it.

9150 allows for Ethernet and / or ISDN.... it has issues with voice quality if there is not enough bandwidth....

There is also the MCK Extender 6000 series /T1 or IP...., very basic, kind of like the 9150 from NORTEL.

NETWORK ACD is another option but that is EXPENSIVE....

MCR (mini carrier remote) with LMX, LMR cards, usese T1 to tie back to home system.

Good luck.
