Remote H323

Has anyone had any luck using a remote H323 96xx phone with a Juniper Netscreen 5GT? I had it working the other day and now it doesn't. The weird thing is that when it worked, I had Firewall/NAT type set to Static Port Block and the Public IP address to 0.0.0.0. Now, on the display it reads Phone and <>. On the firewall logs it shows traffic on port 1719 both ways. If I enter a public IP address, the phone just reads registering and there is only inbound traffic on the firewall logs. Any help would be appreciated.

Also, I can see the remote IP address on the remote phone in Monitor when I have the Public Address set to 0.0.0.0. See the attachment.

I strongly discourage people from attempting to use this feature fro a number of reasons.

1) it does not work if the remote user is using certain ISP's (Virgin media is known to be a non starter others may also not work).
2) unless the customer takes great care with he set-up of their routers & system config they are exposing themselves to potential hacking.
3) Even when everything is configured correctly it seems to be "flaky"

I find it a much better solution to use the VPN firmware & a suitable VPN server


A Maintenance contract is essential, not a Luxury.
Do things on the cheap & it will cost you dear

Yup, agree VPN remote phone is much better.
