I have uploaded several Word documents to my site and linked them to the page via the properties/target in DW. when I go to the site and test the download, the document opens. I'd prefer the link initiate the download dialogue and "save" boxes so the files would downloaded as opposed to opening from the site.
Is there more to getting a file to download than just the <href= code? This seems pretty simple, what am I overlooking?

Thanks to all!

Bill

Bill,

This is a Microsoft Windows issue. If the visitor has MS Word installed and the extension .doc is asswociated with Word the files will always open. Of course the file is downloaded to the the temporary Internet files and the user can save it.
Best solution is probably to ZIP the files, it saves download time and the "Save" dialog will appear.

OK, I'll try it..

THANKS!
