remote desktop stopped responding

Ive got windows 2003 server running on a server - its been up for a few months. Suddenly yesterday remote desktop stopped working... its still configured to allow remote desktop but we get the "Remote Desktop may not be enabled or server is too busy to accept connections"

there dont seem to be any other errors in the event log or anywhere else.. remote desktop just seems to have stopped responding...

has anyone experienced anything like this??

after "activating" and "de-activiating and then re-activating remote desktop two or three times the remote desktop finally began to work again...

but there are no error messages, no events, nothing to tell me why it just stopped working...

Did you check Terminal Services manager to see if there were any disconnected sessions?

what i do when that happens, is i go to the server itself, and hook it up to a monitor, login and disconnect any astray clients through terminal service maniger..

That is not necessary. Install the AdminPak.msi and SuppTools.msi files from your server CD and you will be able to run Terminal Services manager from your desktop and point it to the server.

you will find the Adminpak.msi installed ont he server in Windir\System32.

You will find Supptools.msi in the Support directory on the server CD.

If you support multiple servers, you should also take a look at the remote desktops snap-in that these installs will give you. It allows you to setup and save configs to multiple servers. So rather than using the Remote Desktop application found in Accessories\Communications, you will be able to easily bounce between servers. Note: the screen will only fill the current window size when you connect, so maximize the window before connecting.

yes, i normally just logon from the server or from another server use terminal services manager and terminate the connections, but this time, for whatever reason everything just quit responding.
