We have recently outfitted our mobible IT dept with laptops to RDP into their stations at the office.

All configurations are correct as they get into their stations no problem. However we have noticed that sometimes when they are connected remotely the screen will go grey and their network connection will be red x'ed. It comes back and they are still logged into the RD. So they are not getting dropped, just a little annoying when in the middle of programming or inside a DB and your screen goes grey for 5 or 6 seconds.

I've Googled the problem and haven't found much of an answer. Any help would be appreciated.

Are their laptops using wireless? It could be a wireless signal drop followed with an automatic reconnection. I had someone using wireless at home to VPN to work, and after they VPNed to work, they used rdp to get to their work computers. Every 20 minutes or so, the VPN connection would drop and she would get the red x you are talking about.

Still haven't found a solution yet. Most ppl have port problems with RDP. Those have far been addressed on our office IT end. Both end user desktops and laptops are on atleast a T1 or faster, so bandwidth shouldn't be an issue.

Puter,

no they are hard wired into a router out on site, no wireless.
