Hey all,

I'm using windows XP remote desktop..

For the most part, I love it .. except sometimes, it goes into this logoff loop .. I'll disconnect and then try to log on later .. only to find i can't connect because it logs on .. loads profile .. then instantly goes to logging off.. the only way i've been able to fix this loop is to reboot... but it's frustrating to have to wait till 5pm when you get home .. when the problem occurs at 10am from work..

Any Ideas?

Thanks

Hi Shmoes,

Are you running AV software and have you done a scan?

yes, I run sophos antivirus, and scan religously.. my updates are received every 6hrs for my anti virus as well automaticly .. so it's most definatly current.

The problem seemingly went away when i installed SP2 .. but a couple months later .. it's back again.

sometimes i'll log in and it'll just be a black screen then close the window

That's an interesting site hammertime i'll bookmark it for sure. but I don't see anything relating to my specific problem.

I only have 2 users, I also use the switch user function.. I love that to. I tell ya not having someone shutdown my programs when they want to talk on msn is great! :D

however right now .. the computer was restarted this morning.. I logged on before i left. I "switched users" before leaving.. noone else has logged on this morning so it's still at the user selection screen at home. yet when i login from work.. i get prompted for user/pass then it says loading profile .. then it goes logging off.

yesterday was doing the same thing .. day before worked fine..

there's no difference on how i start my day, i log on, and goto switch users when i leave. it's random as to weather it'll work or not.

Turn off 'Fast Switching' and see if that works? I know you like the feature however that could be causing the problem.

Cheers,

That defeats the purpose of having my computer work, while others use it, as i'll only check on it a few times a day..

I'm not ready to disable functionality to fix one problem.

I'm sure it sounds like i'm being difficult, lol .. but i'm not .. they put the technology here, i've used it.. it works.. There has to be a better way to make it more stable then just disabling it.. there has to be.. :\

To get further information about any error look in your Event viewer.

Look in the Security folder for logging failures or set it up to monitor such failures. You can get to the Event Viewer via right click My Computer icon and select Manage. Setting up the security logging is done via Group Policy Computer Configuration/ Security Settings/ Local Policies/ Audit Policy.

This is a known issue with the later versions of the Nvidia display drivers. Disable the “Nvidia Display Driver Service” under Computer Management (type in compmgmt.msc at the command prompt, and browse to the services area). This will resolve the logon then logoff issue.

I will be trying both of those when i get home

:woot: :woot:
