Im having trouble with Windows XP remote desktop. For some reason I keep getting a message saying that "The local policy of this system does not permit you to logon interactively". I know that remote desktop is basically terminal services. We havent had any trouble with using this before so Im at a loss. What we want to do is let one of our employees logon to her machine from home while shes out. We did the port forwarding on the router and actually get to her machine from home but then we get that message. I cant find anything locally on her machine her in the office that would not allow interactive logon. Any ideas? Thanks!

Is the remote machine XP Home?
XP Home can act as an RD client, but not as a Host.

Hi,

I am having the same trouble and receiving the error
"local policy of this system does not allow you to logon interactively"

Local and remote machines WIN XP Pro in my case.

any ideas as to whats wrong

Thanks

Each time I've seen that error it's been relating to incorrect group assignment. Check and see if your user account is in the "Remote Desktop Users", in your Active Directory Domain.

If you still recieve that error message then verify that the following setting is correct for the RDU group, in group policy.

Computer Configuration/Windows Settings/Security Settings/Local Policies/User Rights Assignment/Allow Log on locally (add whatever groups you want to have Remote Access).
