Hey there folks,

Question for ya, Server 2003-I was finally able to connect with Remote Desktop connection...working like a charm...then I went and did a reboot and now I can't get connected again. I think I've checked all the services and they all seem to be running fine. Just to clear things up, does Terminal Service have anything to do with plain ole remote desktop? Anyways, any ideas what could have changed on the reboot to cause this not to work...oh yea the error I get is the standard can't connect cause it might be too busy to accept new connections, or network problems may be preventing the connection...

Thanks
J

enable it again rightclick the my computer and propperties -> remote

Yea, I tried to disable and re-enable but no luck...

Are you using it in admin mode or application mode? If is is app mode, it sould be a license issue.

Go to Add/Remove Programs (appwiz.cpl).

Click on Add/Remove Windows Components. Look at the Terminal Services block. If it is checkmarked already, then you are in Application mode...

Remote Admin mode is installed by default in Win2k3. You just have to enable it in System Properties on the REMOTE tab..

I unchecked the term service because MS said it doens't need to be installed for Remote Desktop to work...

That is correct, IF you are running in "Remote Admin" mode.

However, it MUST be checked if you want to run in "Application Mode"

Ah, we gots it running, a bunch of services needed to be started in a speical order...who knows...

jbrusie can you tell me what services and in waht order please, i am having a similar issue with my win2k3 Remote Desktop

Thanks

Jade

The only thing I can really tell ya is when its out of the box what I now do is make sure the first step is taken care of...rightclick the my computer and propperties -> remote...try it and if it doesn't work, then go to services and make sure all services that have to do with remote desktop are on...then the user that you use to log in with is part of the remote users group...

hope this helps
