Remote backup ( offsite backup )

Hi all,

anyone knows what is the best way to backup some datas on an NT 4 server remotly to a win2000 server machine, and somehow make them syncharenize togther weekly, ? or if there is a 3th party software, any recomandation ,

I use robocopy.exe to do this. Its a great tool and with the correct options selected you can use it to mirror. I run it as a scheduled task every night after the backups complete to robocopy all critical data off site to a remote DR site. There's about 500GB of data in all but robocopy will only copy / delete / create the changes so it works perfectly well over a 1M VPN.

You can also get a report at the end of each copy telling you what was updated, deleted or created. I've even set flag keys on the copy and got a script to email me incase there's any failures - link down etc.

Robocopy is a Microsoft product and I believe it's on the Windows 2000 Resource kit. I think it's also available on Microsoft's web site.
