I have a Snap Server that I need to back up on tape. I am currently running Veritas V.8.5. Can I buy the remote agent for this version, or do I have to upgrade to the latest version? Where can I buy? What exactly is it called? Is the remote agent the only way I can backup the snap server on tape? Any ideas would be appreciated.

Thanks

Gerry

The SNAP server usually run a proprietery Unix OS which a Unix remote agent cant be installed on. I think SNAP only makes one model the 4000 serial you can install the agent onto. You can backup it up by user defined selection withoug a agent. As long as the SNAP is emulating Windows Networking.

BTW 8.5 and 8.6 are no longer supported by Veritas..end of this month

You are correct! The 1st time I tried it I received a message: "the remote agent is not present" and my files were not backed up (for some reason). I just tried it again and this time, I still got the message but the back up was successful. Thanks for setting me straight.
