Hi I’m trying to backup 2003 server with backup exec 9.1 Rev 4691. Everyday day I get this error.

Job ended: 04 August 2004 at 23:49:00
Completed status: Failed
Final error: 0xa00084f8 - The network connection to the Backup Exec Remote Agent has been lost. Please check for network errors.

I was at the same time that Disk keeper started to run so I stopped that, but it still gives this error.
I checked the event viewer this morning and I couldn’t find the log for the service stopping in system, only the backup exec job log in Application.

I get this error on two servers, one running a HP LTO, and the other running a HP VS80 (the Bain of my life).

Any suggestions would be gratefully received.

Lloyd

If i go Tools > Backup Exec Services; The Backup Exec Services Manager says, <SERVERNAME> xxxxx <SERVER STATUS> Stopped.

If I click Start all services i get:

but it still shows server status stopped.

1. Do you use a own Backup User?
2. Does the Backup User has the right permission (User permission & GPO)
3. Do you use the Backup Administrator for starting the services? If not, change it to this.

Do you have any process running on your exchange server that is reading the Information store at the same time you do your backups. I mean by exemple off line sync or stuff like that?

Le monde c'est de la marde!

I had the same problem--the BE services just would not start on the WIN2003 server no matter what I did.---so I powered off the server and LTO drives, then powered up the drives and waited for them to come up--started the WIN2003 server--and voila all the BE services started up and ran fine.

not yet, im not sure if it has been tested and submitted to change control.
