Fooball is not a matter of life and death-It is far more important!!!!

We want to be able to manage the IP412 via IP Manager from an alternate location.

Just like onsite it searches for the IP412 but the unit is not found offsite which is understood. Because it is not local.

Hope this helps

thanks :)

I would never suggest opening ports up to your IPO. You should VPN into the office and then manage it or connect to a local computer on the network and manage it from there.

EXCELLENT POINT!

i will just remote into our voicemail pro on remote desktop or VPN that should be sufficient correct?

Also how should i connect the IP office to our netowrk?

i heard some issues about DHCP IP office taking over

should i connect the ip office on a ip address set it as a client? should be ok?

Point the VM pro pc to the ip office?
i know too many questions my apologies.

All your prompt responses are GREATLY appricated.

Although they did put that 2nd "LAN" port on the 412 and 500 for a reason. You could always stick that port out on the Internet if you choose. Make sure you don't leave the password as Administrator. I would also not include an IP route in the IP Office from LAN 1 to LAN 2.

That being said I would agree that connecting via VPN is the better bet. Or, we actually use LogMeIn to remote to the VM server and manage it that way.

Eccableguys,

As has been said VPNing into the voicemail pro machine is a good option and one I use however DO NOT use remote desktop it can seriously screw up your voicemail and even your IPO config.

Thanks

Andrew

Why would Remote Desktop Mess up things on Voicemail pro? It is a very common application Remote Desktop.

ECCableGuys,

Your right it is a very common application. I can not answer why it messes things up but it does, there are several posts from other users on this forum who have also had this issue. The VM Pro and IPO Manager are the only programs I've ever seen affected by Remote Desktop.

Thanks

Andrew

I use my laptop from home and connect to the corporate network via VPN, then just use Manager from my laptop.

As an alternative, I can connect with the VPN then use DameWare Reomte control to connect to the VM Pro server and launch Manager from there.

I have never experienced any issues as mentioned above while using DameWare. I have had issues with Remote desktop in the past too.

IP Office 406
3.2 (55)
VM Pro 3.2.28 (not central)
6 WAN connected locations, no SCN

Use vnc instead

Marco,
I would suggest that you should probably get a professional Communcations Specialist to do this for you. The things you mentioned doing have shown a history of corrupting the entire system requiring a full wipe, and reprogram of the phone systems.

Also, the reason why Remote desktop is not compatible, or that RD is a common application are both irelevant, as the proper ways to access, and program the system are clearly documented in the basic system documentation, and RD is clearly communicated as to not being a valid, and also being a destructive action potentially to the system. I would respectfully suggest you RTFM.
