Team hello
How is possible to get remote access to manage an IPO500V2 9.0 via manager over internet? What are the ports that we have to forward to the IP Office IP in order to manage it remotely?
Alternative is it possible to do a dialup remote management? Does the system support soft modem?

thanks

Nikos

Do not use port forward to you phone system.
Use either VPN or remote software like TeamViewer or LogMeIn.

Port forwarding is fine to do as long as it is locked down properly. For example we manage several system via public IP address as their firewall is setup to NAT traffic from out public IP address only to the phone system.

OK what ports to forward? where does manager listen to?
Modem option is more rare as most voice providers switch to Voip and dialup modem is not functional

We allow the following from our IP to the phone system

Avaya Manager TCP 50804
Avaya System Status TCP 50808
Avaya Security TCP 50812
Avaya Upgrade UDP 50798
Avaya Monitor UDP 50794
Avaya Manager Discovery TCP 50802
Avaya Manager Secure TCP 50813
Avaya TLS Secure TCP 50805

The important part here is to only allow it from your IP.

Also be sure to change all of your security and admin logins from the default.

We installed an AVAYA VPN Gateway 3070 and it works great. IPO dials into AVG with SSLVPN. Connection can be enabled and disabled through short codes or button.

What about old times modem option? i have the new ATMV2 card installed on the system too. Does it help?

I don't think you will be happy with analogue modem. Connection is slow and with the ongoing rollout of SIP PSTN it will not be very reliable.

We use log me in and also port forwarding and only allow it from out IP Address from our shop

Dial up through the built-in modem works okay if you have PRI trunks, but somewhat unreliable if you have analog trunks. We do a lot of remote maintenance through the built in modem, by assigning an extension number to the RemoteManager user and also that same extension number to the RAS Extension. We use 899 for consistency across all of our installed sites. Make sure you change the default RemoteManager password.
Also you need to go into Security Settings - Services - Configuration - Service Security Level, and set it to Unsecure + Secure.
Assign a target line to the RemoteManager, or set up a path in the Auto Attendant to get to the modem's extension. You can also do an operator assisted connection by getting someone on site to transfer you to the modem's ext. #.

Just giving the RAS an extn is enough, no need to add the number to the remote manager user, it makes no difference :)

We've got a Remote Desktop /Terminal server here so we give the partner restricted access to a copy of Manager.

If the customer only has 1 static IP for their business, we put a Sonicwall SOHO behind customers existing firewall. We then have them port forward SSLVPN Port 4433 from their firewall to the SOHO unit, then we run NextExtender SSLVPN client from admin PC to access IPO. If we are lucky enough to be assigned a public static, we use SonicWall SOHO with ports forwarded to the appropraite Avaya device (IP500/One-X). We learned the hard way about 10 years ago that the IPO firewall is useless. We Never face any customers Avaya equipment directly to the public internet.

No need to give the Ras an extn number either
Simply route Any Data to DialIn
(for ISDN Dial-up Analog modem is too flaky to be worth the aggravation)
