Hi all!!
I have a meridian SL-1 with a modem Teltronics SEB II and I need to know how can I do to be able to access the PBX from another location, I know that the modem is currently working because the Telco usually connects to fix some issues when I am not at the office

Thanks in advance

You will need a terminal emulation software (procomm, hyperterminal, etc..) to dial into the modem, and the number on the line assigned to the modem. BUT,
If it's an SEB it will most likely have a password on the port and you will need to know this to gain access to the switch.

Ok but Could I use another standard modem? like a US robotics? If so what do I need to do, just unplug the PBX from the SEB and then plug it to the other modem?

You need the seb password. Otherwise if you hook it up to a regular modem you could get hacked. If its your switch call this "Telco" and get YOUR password.

Is there any way to connect to the PBX directly by-passing the modem? like a null modem cable or so?

Yes Just connect a RS232 cable from your Computers Comm Port, via a null modem adaptor onto the Meridian's TTY cable.

All the best

Ok I got the cable and the null modem adapotor; I am able to see the terminal screen in Hyperterminal but when I type fopr example logi and the password and hit enter; it does nothing...

if it is doing nothing, it's not a cap prob.. you may need a null modem between the two.. try this on your robot
1. Power down the Modem
2. Set Dip Switch 1,3,5,8 Down; Set Dip Switch 2,4,6,7 Up
3. Power up the Modem and program it as follows (set your terminal for 9600,N,8,1):
AT&F
AT&B1&W&W1
4. Power down the Modem and set Dip Switches 1,4 Down; 2,3,5,6,7,8 Up
5. Power Up

What type of SDI card is this connected to?

If the other location you are trying to access your PBX from is within your company's network, then connect the SDI port to a term server, it's faster and more secure than a modem.....Talk to your friends in IT.

I am using a Null modem and I can see the terminal windows but if I type something (I can see the letters in the screen) but when I hit enter it will do nothing

Current connection:

Meridian -----null modem ---- PC(Hyperterminal)

also try it with out the nul modem.. if that don't work put the null back on and short pins 2 to 3. that will let you type in hyperterm, and see the keystrokes.. if that happens your comm port is correct in your pc.. 8 none and one at 96 and try 7 space and one at 96 and then maybe at 1200

What card are you connecting to? The reason I ask is because you said SL1 and if you are connecting to a QPC139 then there is a jumper on the card that tells it whether it's Modem or terminal.

1st thing would be to connect to the port with a terminal, either dumb or pc, try it with and without a nul.. then after you know it's working try the modem, if the term needed a null the modem will not.. you need to find out if it's the copper, the port or the modem, either soft or hard. a us robot. works perfect with the setup i posted.
