I have a helpdesk that has an emergency recording, and the question was raised if there was a way to allow the recording to be done remotely. The request was made in case there was an after hours issue arise, we could call in and record the update without someone having to be one site that has console permissions on their set to do the recording. The VAL board is a TN750C, and we are running R2.1.

I was thinking a DID that called the Feature Access code, but I wanted to check here first to see if there was a better way. I have not tried the DID yet, but if I strip the 4 digits and insert the feature code, I would have to provide a COS to my entire PRI to make this work, and I am not sure that is the best way, or if it would even work.

Thanks.

You should be able to use EC500 as well. They could call the Idle line feature code DID you have assigned.

Works like a champ!!!

Thanks a ton, have a star!!!

Yeah, I use the hell out of EC500 Idle Line Feature code.

We are not using IP Softphones(yet), but what do you mean by remote access?

If it hasn't been disabled, you can do a "change remote" command, assign a DID, and fill out the form with the proper permissions(console) and barrier code. Dial the DID, and you'll get remote dial tone. Enter the record dial FAC string, the extension, then 1 to record etc..

I should mention that remote access is considered to be a toll fraud risk, though you can limit access to it via code and permissions.

Once change remote has been disabled, it takes Avaya to unlock it... for a fee..

Thanks,
