I logged into ASA today and got the message Voice System: Remote Access Barrier Code Due to Expire.

What should I do?

You don't have to do anything if no one is using the remote access. If you do a 'change remote-access' you'll see the barrier codes, dates to expire, times used, etc.

This is basically used to allow someone to dial into the switch, get a tone, enter the "barrier" code, then they can dial just as if they were sitting at an extension on the switch. For instance they can dial another extension, they can dial 9 and a telephone number, etc.

Thanks. I went in it and just changed the expiration to 12 more months, no more nags now. After the change, it now show Calls Used = 0. It was 13 before the change.

A bit of advice here: If you have no idea who/what is using the remote access, it would be a good idea NOT to leave it open....

I have to agree with BIS here, also if you do turn it off and someone was supposed to be using it, I'm sure they'll let you know.

Don't disable it though- just expire the date. Disabling requires Avaya to re-enable it... could cost some $$ too...

Thanks,
CJH
