Dear all,

We're planned to use more powerful PC to running the Networker in the coming months, does someone have a experience how to relocate the nsr from one server to another server together with these index file.

Currently we're using NT4 SP6 running Networker Server 6.2 plus Tandberg SDLT autoloader to back up 10 clients (include the backup server itself). The target PIII server will running Win2000 SP3 with more disk spaces.

Many Thanks for your ideas.

Regards,
Samson

Transfer the nsr directory to the new server.

Replace its IP with by old one
Replace its name by old one

Re-install Networker on the new server (same directory).

Shutdown services.

Replace the NSR directory with the old one.

Start services.

IT's done.

Hope this helps.

If these server name are different is it still OK? if not, any alternatives?

Thanks.

In fact it's not really a problem if you use a different IP or Hostname.

The thing is that your old server will be seen as a client and a new client will be created for your new server.

You can proceed the same way (test it before because there'are sometime bad surprises, but most of the time it's really not hard at all).

The first thing you'll have to do is to re-configure your devices (but before delete the old ones that have been restored from the old configuration files).

Remember to change client's "server.res" file with the new server name.

You'll also have to made a new authorization code request to LEGATO because your hostid will change (host transfer affidavit).

Hope this helps.
