Hi,

We have decided to go with an antivirus company who require our outgoing e-mails to be routed through their servers and our incoming mails will now be downloaded from their pop servers instead being delivered straight to our exchange 2000 server via smtp. I know about changing the mx record over but is it absolutely necessary to use third party software to set up the pop download. Also, what changes do you think I would need to make on the outgoing e-mail side of things to route our e-mails through their server and where?

Any help would be appreciated.

Cheers

Will

has a very good and stable prouct, and not all that pricey. It features multiple POP3 connections and an optional Anti-Virus.
For outgoing, you nee to 'push' the mails to their server, so you could define your outgoing SMTP to point at their server, or even use them as Smart Host.

If 'something' 'somewhere' gives 'some' error, expect random guesses or no replies at all. Please specify details.

Thanks for the response - I have now actually been told that they will push the e-mails to our SMTP server once they have been processed so no POP connector required. Re: the outgoing mails though, how might one go about setting another host up as a "smart host"??

Thanks

Will

Exchange system Manager - Administrative Groups - Main Office - Routing Groups - YourGroup - Connectors - Yourconnector - Rightclick for properties, there is either DNS or the second one, smart host, in there you fill in the address of your service provider.
