Hi

My 'Safely Remove Hardware' icon has disappeared from the quick launch area. I need it to disconnect my ASDL modem from my docking station before I can undock my laptop.
Is there a way to re-activate it or do I have to reinstall XP Pro. Any help appreciated - Thanks

This is from a similar question about other hardware but see if it works for you?

"Use the following steps to show the 'Safely Remove Hardware' icon in Windows XP:

Right-click the taskbar and select Properties.

Click Customize Button

Note: If Customize button is greyed then check the Hide inactive icons.

Locate and highlight Safely Remove Hardware.

Click the down arrow and select Always Show.

Click OK and then click OK again."

See if these help.

If no luck have a go using System Restore to get your icon back.

Thanks for your input folks - the xp_showdesktop done the trick
